Set in 1979, 9 to 5 is based on the movie of the same name. The fashion of c. 1977-1982 is a period unto itself, with Victorian- and 1930s-inspired silhouettes, and several other influences. The action takes place over 7-8 non-consecutive days, plus 3 fantasy sequences and a pre-recorded video segment. The production required significant planning and tracking to execute the costume changes for over 130 individual ensembles for 29 performers in very limited space backstage.
